Whilst Eddie's character is the enemy in the Whistleblower DLC I do not play him in such a two dimensional manner, rather looking at him in a more humanised way. Examining how he is the result of his traumatic childhood and the time spent at Murkoff. It's unstated the circumstances of the deaths he caused and as such I play them as moments where he blacked out. 'The Groom' was always sort of there as a personality created to protect himself after the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father and uncle, the Morphogenic engine merely gave The Groom something to latch onto.

Headcanon - As a result of the nanomachines in him, he is capable of using them to 'map out' his surroundings to a set distance, this is how it seems he's able to wander around in pitch black areas with no trouble. It's also made him strong enough to be able to kill a man with a punch if he's got his mind set on it.

Lord of the Mountain AU - This is my secondary main verse for Eddie, which is based upon my Fic 'Light Up The Dark'. In this verse, the nanomachines have the ability to change their host, to adapt them to being more effective living weapons. This as a result creates pseudo Wendigos in the patients who aren't as strong of will. With time Eddie discovers that The Groom has perhaps some more insidious roots than previously thought of and turns out that a creature known as Rubezahl latched onto him at a young age and uses the nanomachines to materialise. Eventually the machines further affect his outward appearance. (1) (2) (3)

The Walrider cloud eventually takes on the appearance of a centaur like Wendigo, to properly show the image of Rubezahl. (1 - original appearance) (2 - first mutation) (3 - final state)
